Overview

Gymreapers is building a world-class product engine—and we’re hiring a Sourcing & Product Developer with deep sourcing expertise to help us scale.

This role sits at the intersection of product creation, materials innovation, and vendor development, with a strong emphasis on domestic Mexico sourcing and international manufacturing partnerships.

You will play a critical role in identifying, developing, and managing factories, mills, and material suppliers while ensuring our products meet performance, cost, and quality standards.

This is not just a design role—this is a build-the-supply-chain + build-the-product role.

What You’ll Do

Sourcing & Vendor Development

Identify, onboard, and develop domestic (Mexico) and international suppliers across:
- Textiles (performance fabrics, knits, woven)
- Synthetics (nylon, polyester, TPU, rubber, plastics)
- Hardware (buckles, velcro, trims, metal components)
- Cut & sew and gear manufacturers
Build and maintain strong factory relationships to improve:
- Cost efficiency
- Lead times
- Product quality
Evaluate and negotiate MOQs, pricing, and production capabilities
Travel locally within Mexico to visit factories, mills, and suppliers

Product Development & Execution

Lead development from concept → sampling → production
Translate product briefs into clear technical direction for vendors
Partner with Design to ensure materials, construction, and function align with brand standards
Own the sampling process, ensuring speed, accuracy, and iteration quality
Troubleshoot product issues directly with vendors and propose solutions quickly

Materials Expertise

Source and test high-performance materials for:
- Strength, durability, and wear resistance
- Comfort and fit (for apparel)
- Performance under load (for gear)
Provide recommendations on material substitutions, cost optimization, and innovation
Stay ahead of global material trends and innovations

Logistics & Importation Knowledge

Working knowledge of international shipping, import/export processes, and freight forwarding
Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics partners to manage shipments from origin to final destination
Familiarity with Incoterms (FOB, EXW, DDP, etc.), commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation
Ability to support cost optimization, lead time management, and issue resolution related to international freight and customs clearance

Quality & Production Readiness

Establish and enforce quality standards and specs
Partner with vendors to ensure design intent is maintained in production
Participate in fit sessions, wear testing, and product validation
Document and communicate technical changes and improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with:
- GM
- Product & Design
- Sourcing & Operations
- Merchandising
Help align product decisions with margin targets and launch timelines
Ensure seamless handoff from development → production → go-to-market

What You’ll Bring

5+ years experience in Product Development, Sourcing, or Technical Development
Proven experience working with:
- Mexico-based factories and suppliers (required)
- Overseas manufacturing partners (Asia preferred)
Strong understanding of:
- Textiles, synthetics, and performance materials
- Apparel and/or fitness gear construction
Experience sourcing:
- Fabrics, trims, plastics, and hardware components
Ability to negotiate pricing and manage vendor relationships
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and production workflows

Ideal Skills

Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
Tech packs, BOMs, and product specs
Autocad experience needed
Microsoft Office (Excel for costing is key)
3D design tools (CLO, Browzwear) = plus

Highly detail-oriented and execution-focused
Strong communicator (English + Spanish preferred)
Able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Problem-solver with a builder mentality
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, feedback-heavy environment
